Eat– for Good Health

Eat all you want of near calorie free foods.  Okay, maybe you don’t love grapefruit like I do.  What about fruit bars?  They are healthier than popsicles and run about 30 to 50 calories each.  Have you ever made Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn?  Make 4 cups of popcorn, put it in a bowl, add 3 packets of Slenda or Equal, 1 teaspoon sinnamon, 1 tablespoon light brown sugar, and spray with butter spray.  Mix it up and share with 3 friends.  1 serving is 50 calories, or 200 for the whole shootin match, which isn’t that bad.  I have had a weakness for the Root Beer Float lately– fill glass 3/4 full with diet root beer and add nonfat milk.  Drink lots of them!  Have a bowl of strawberries or any other fresh fruit.  Sprinkle on a packet of sweetener.

  1. Actually, I like grapefruit. I need to stock up.

  2. I’m a big fan of cinnamon – maybe that’s why I cook a lot of Indian and Moroccan foods. I used to be allergic to it so it’s extra special for me. Cinnamon and sugar popcorn sounds like a wonderful treat. Much better than butter and salt! I would use regular sugar though.

  3. Hello Mary Alice! Debbie, regular sugar is a nice alternative on the popcorn. It doesn’t take much. Your Indian and Moroccan foods must be wonderful. I’m a huge fan of cinnamon also.

  4. Popcorn is one of my favorite fill-me-ups. I’m not seeing the 99% fat free, low sugar kettle corn flavors out there anymore. I wonder what happened to them. The recipe above is something I’d like to try.

  5. The diet root beer float with ice and fat free milk really does taste like a root beer float. We learned this one from Weight Watchers, and it’s a good tip.

  6. Not all popcorn is the same, that’s for sure. One cup of gourmet caramel popcorn, the kind you buy in a candy store, is 976 calories!
