People craft– getting along with yourself
Lucky you! Yes, there are research proven ways to give ourselves the good-luck boost. Marc Myers, author of HOW TO MAKE LUCK, tells us luck has nothing to do with chance and everything to do with mindset. Lucky people see unexpected opportunities, for one thing. Relax and notice the unexpected. Unlucky people are so focused on the task that they don’t notice anything else. This is because the unlucky are generally more tense which disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected, says researcher Richard Wiseman, PhD. When you feel yourself too absorbed in something, take three deep breaths. The extra oxygen goes to the brain and makes us more aware. ![]()

Kathleen, there’s something wonderful about being around relaxed people. Maybe they’re more confident.
Reba, relaxed people probably get more done because they can think clearly. They’re optimistic by nature.
Yeah, who wants to be around a tense crab-apple?
The crabbyappletons never smile and never say yes.
I respond best to a gentle smile– the kind that gradually fills the face.
What, you don’t like those tight little fake smiles?
Any smile is better than no smile. At least a person is trying! Maybe they’re nervous.
We all find ourselves in pressure situations where it’s hard to relax and smile in a natural way. I break the ice by saying something supportive, not gushy, something sincere.
It’s all about what you project. Mindset is everything.
Hey Beth, as you said, mindset has so much to do with our success. We have to believe we can achieve our goal. It’s really our subconscious that has to believe it, and to do this we need to send positive and encouraging messages to ourselves!
