People craft– getting along with yourself

Some people really do look ten years younger than they are.  The number one youth-thief is the sun damage.  The most significant breakthrough in modern dermatology is the discovery of advanced glycation end products known as AGEs, dermatologist Fredric Brandt, MD explains.  These compounds promote skin-cell damage and result from a chain of chemical reactions after an initial glycation caused by UVA rays.   Glycation, which occurs in the body, is associated with increased oxidative damage.  To shut down AGEs, we need to choose a sunscreen that is effective against both UVA abd UVB rays.

Dr Brandt discusses two products that prevent further skin damage, but neither of them fix damage that has already occurred.

Banana Boat Ultra Defense Faces Broad Spectrum Sunscreen with SPF 30 and 50 is worth the $10.49 at most pharmacies.

Also, products that contain alistin reduces AGE activity.  One study found that applying an alistin-containing cream for two months reduced AGE activity by 21%.  One option is Avon Anew Alternative Photo-Radiance Treatment which costs $25 at Avon.com.  This product has an SPF of 15 but works as a decoy.  In other words, ingredients in the product are attacked instead of the skin.

It’s so important to lessen sun damage. Something women are doing these days to try to look younger is to plump up their lips with injections. Have you seen mismatched plumpness? It’s ghastly.

Something that works to look younger is making our eyes pop. Line the tops and bottoms of your eyes without connecting them at the inner edge.

Steer clear of black liner, though. Even on me, and I’m black, I use dark brown. Reba, your advice about how not to overdo the liner works. I skip the first quarter of my eyelid and start where the color of my iris begins.

The same holds true for wearing black. Even if we wear a little black dress, we need something lighter around our faces– a scarf or a break in the fabric. I bought a black dress, but it has an animal print bodice.
