People craft– getting along with yourself

Have you noticed that more jewelry is being sold on EBay?  Being frugal is back in fashion, and if we are not using something, we sell it or give it away.  When people are hit with a job loss, they can soon be strapped with debt or feel depressed from using their savings.  One way to tighten your spending belts is to write down what you are spending.   Only then, can you analyze it. Like overeating, there is a difference between wants and needs.  You don’t have to give up everything you love when you go on a budget.  Set goals and whittle impulsiveness.  This is a gift-giving season, but the way something is given is more precious than what it is.   I gave a new family of four who moved onto our street a $3.99 box of Pepperidge Farm gingerbread family cookies– dad, mom, and two kids.  Last night, mom and five-year-old son dropped over to thank us personally because they felt loved and welcomed. . . and from such a small thing in terms of  time and money.

Kathleen, I’ve been thinking about Kendra– with her son Drew off in the Navy and her husband working in San Francisco. She is such a private person, I want to do something but don’t want to intrude.

Happy news– Drew is coming home for ten days starting December 19th! We invited Kendra to dinner on Friday eve. She didn’t come because she said she’d have to leave her dogs at home. Well, she leaves them at home every day when she goes to work. But, she is thrilled that Drew will be here and is going to put up a tree.
