Places– of Charm

A donation (52 images donated by Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser, husband and wife) increases the Getty Museum’s photos by Manuel Alvarez Bravo to 247!  Many of us remember when Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser generously donated artworks made of glass to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  Getty Museum spokesperson said that since 2000, the couple have given 100 other Bravo photos to them as well as 61 by Bravo’s assistant, Graciela Iturbide, among other images from American photographers.

Bravo grew up in Mexico City, and that was during Mexico’s revolutionary period. Bravo went out to the countryside with his camera in the 1930s.

Bravo creates something visual that the viewer interprets. I have enjoyed Bravo’s array of works at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Norton Simon was an industrialist and art collector.
