Eat– for Good Health

Remember, friends, you don’t need a ton of money or certain genes to lose weight and feel great.  One of my favorite low calorie dinners are slices of turkey breast served with mushrooms, sweet potato and green beans.  The photo below has a tangy crust, baked with a rub of olive oil, cumin, dried oregano, allspice, chili powder and an even tablespoon of brown sugar.  If you don’t have time to bake your own turkey breast, buy one ready made at your supermarket.

Portions are 3 ounces turkey, 2/3 cup sweet potato and 1 cup green beans and mushrooms.

    Kathleen, I love turkey all year round. Nice to keep in mind that we don’t need special genes to lose weight. I’m feeling so much better. By the way, I’m taking advice in your book about getting more sleep. It’s made such a difference.

    Rachel, it really is true, our bodies are designed for eight hours! Lack of sleep can disrupt hormone levels, making you feel hungry even when your body doesn’t need food.

    I know what I’m like when sleep-deprived, dragging myself through the day, skipping my exercise (lap swimming) and tending to eat whatever junk is in the break room!
