Eat– for Good Health

It’s 90 degrees here today in Irvine, California.  I’m presently enjoying a cup (145 calories) of nonfat cottage cheese with blueberries and a brand new type of melon, served on a bed of Romaine and sprinkled with cinnamon.  It is really good, and the entire “thing” is 250.   I am driving over to the farmers market to find out what kind of melon this is–  it is small and a lighter shade of green than honeydrew and not as sweet.

    The melon baller is a handy tool for digging out the core of a ripe pear. Cut the fruit in half, then rotate the melon ball tool around the center. It looks nice and even.

    To serve sorbet, I use a melon baller to scoop different flavors and colors. Arrange them in small groups on a pan covered with parchment. Freeze until serving time.
