Have a super-healthly summer.  Bright skies and rising temps inspire a whole bunch of fun activities but also invite a slew of annoying health hassles.  Not to worry.  This summer, thanks to a few cool tricks, you can keep one common seasonal troublemaker (BLOAT) at bay.  Storing water to help cool tissues is the body’s way of preparing to beat the heat when temperature soars.  Beat bloat by going for a swim explains Elson Haas M.D. of the Preventive Medical Center of Marin in San Rafael, California.  If you spend 30 minutes in a cool pool, you outsmart your body and eliminate excess fluid buildup.

  1. Another study from the Univer sity of North Carolina– staying in shoulder-deep water for a half hour doubles urine output. That’s why we need to hit the bathroom after swimming, and aren’t we glad there’s always one handy. This reduces puffiness. The body relaxes its hold on fluids while the pressure of water pushing on skin forces trapped fluids back into circulation so that they can be excreted by kidneys.
