Places– of Charm

Feral parrots have made Southern California their home.  After observing green birds in neighborhood trees, I read up on the California Parrot Project, born from the recognition that parrots are now an important component of our urban avifaunas in many parts of the state.  Some bird watchers are nervous about the increase in the parrot population.  Personally, I like parrots better than crows which are so aggressive that they eat baby bunnies.  The parrots we enjoy watching are jungle green with red crowns.

  1. Kathleen and Jill, there are other types of parrots here besides the red-crowned variety. Usually I see them flying in pairs within small to large flocks. From what I’m reading, most flocks are mixed species flocks.
