People craft– taking care of yourself

For a self-esteem booster, bring out your inner coach.  Coaches quash our inner critics.  It’s as simple as changing our inner dialogue from “I can’t” to “I can”.  The way we talk to ourselves is so powerful! It’s the difference between success and failure.  In a recent study volunteers who told themselves they could complete a complicated puzzle did it in half the time as those who worried they couldn’t.  Don’t let self-doubt get you nowhere.

  1. Extensive color research shows that blue does in fact instill confidence. Many company logos are blue for this reason. The insurance company Aflac changed over to a blue logo and their sales doubled! The secret of blue is that the shade increases the number of mood-lifting alpha brain waves which tamps down doubt and boosts faith.

  2. Body language helps me– the things of confidence such as good posture. Also if I’m trying to get my point across I nod in a positive way– slowly, just twice, since I don’t want to look like a bobble-head.

  3. Good posture with shoulders back enhances our belief in ourselves. Also, Mary Alice, tilting our heads back sends a signal to the brain that we’re feeling upbeat. A slightly raised chin is a sign of pride that shows others we are self assured.

  4. Reba, bet you don’t need to do that too often! But more people than we think get into situations where we lack confidence– 92% in certain situations.
