Crystal Cathedral was purchased by the Orange County CA Catholic Diocese. This was after a battle with Chapman University who wanted to use the 40-acres as a secondary campus. The judge in charge of the bankruptcy of the former Protestant denomination ruled to allow this beautiful modern church to be Catholic rather than a college. Reverend Robert Schuller preached here, and he gave his blessing to what once may have been unthinkable. This sleek glass and steel cathedral where fresh breezes can blow through walls will soon be a place of ancient ritual and incense. Rev. Schuller wanted it to remain a church.
