Places– of Charm

When a room is decorated in blue, the atmosphere is like a comfy pair of jeans.  Denim and other blues add an easy relaxed feel.  Research shows that being exposed to this soulful hue slows our heart rate and calms our breathing.

Multiple shades of blue work together, and durable fabrics such as chambray and denim are perfect for high-traffic areas.

Kathleen, I’ve been thinking about painting our living room a soft blue. This would be a refreshing change from the latte tone which is a nice neutral, but it’s also a bit blah.

Jill, if you go with a light tone, you won’t go wrong since your furniture is white and tan.

Hi Kathleen, Jill, and Janessa– rooms get such a boost from newly painted walls. I’m thinking of a pale blue-green for our bedroom. It might help us fall asleep faster! (I read that studies show this!)

Hi gals! Greens and blues are wonderfully relaxing. Our daughter Marla and boyfriend Alex live in a trendy building in downtown Austin, Texas. Their walls are a light sage green and woodwork/doors are a darker green. Their furniture is mid-century modern, and their apartment looks so put-together.
