People Appreciation

Personalities of the company we keep are contagious.  Emotions are infectious, and we can “catch” good feelings.  According to researcher Travis Stork, MD, and Rachael Ross, MD, moods and behaviors spread from person to person.  Their studies show that traits and choices of our friends and acquaintances have a powerful effect on ours.  With that in mind, today I am attending RWA-OCC.  When spending the day with other professional and motivated writers, I get a boost that will last through the evening and beyond.

Absolutely true, Kathleen. Our brains are hardwired to detect stress in other people. Even our breathing is effected when around a stressed and upset individual.

Hi Jill, not that I avoid troubled people who need consolation and a good listener, but I do want to the benefits of positive people most of the time.

Hi Jill and Janessa, we copy other people a lot. When we order food with friends in a restaurant, we like to know what others are having!
