How are you celebrating Memorial Day weekend? Dear to our hearts are the people who died while serving in our country’s armed forces. This federal holiday typically marks the start of summer in the United States while Labor Day marks the end. Many families decorate graves with flowers, and for the military the poppy is often chosen. Decoration Day, as it used to be called, was after the American Civil War in 1968. Later Confederate and Union holiday traditions merged into Memorial Day. Tomorrow after church we’re having a family barbecue.
