People Appreciation

Why are refugees fleeing? People are running for their lives. As always, people flee from dangerous oppression and gravitate to freedom, Germany has welcomed almost a million desperate refugees. In Germany they find jobs and safety. Other countries are working to support refugees as well.

That being said, why the heck have 2,000 Westerners travelled to Iraq and Syria (some via Turkey) to join ISIS? Over 100 are from the U.S., about 500 from the UK, and more than 700 from France? These estimates are from the CIA and authorities in those countries?  The answer is that they are lonely and desire friendship. Isn’t that frightening.

    Hi Kathleen,
The Syrian Civil War has displaced 4 million people this year, and many went to Turkey. Germany hung out the big welcome sign.

88 per cent of Germans have donated clothes or money to refugees! Most importantly, the refugees are offered jobs.

  3. I just read a news report that some Germans are resisting. There are arson attacks on refugee shelters! Reports of refugees being greeted at the doors of their new homes by neo-Nazis humming Third Reich songs or being pelted with banana skins are not uncommon. There are mounting concerns that elements of the far-right have found new oxygen in the crisis by tapping into ordinary people’s fears that Europe’s largest economy may be unable to cope with the decision to allow so many to take refuge within its borders.

On the topic of ISIS recruits, I read about the 23-year-old Sunday school teacher and babysitter, and how she trembled with excitement the day she told her Twitter followers that she had converted to Islam. Friends at last!

Indeed, Rud. For months, this gal had been growing closer to a new group of friends online — the most attentive she had ever had — who were teaching her what it meant to be a Muslim. Increasingly, they were telling her about the Islamic State and how the group was building a homeland in Syria and Iraq where the holy could live according to God’s law.
